Criminal Case Proceedings

The criminal court process differs for the type of crime that is charged.  An infraction, the least serious of the offenses is punishable mainly through a fine and will not require a jury trial.  A trial for an infraction is generally heard by a judge with evidence presented by the state and the defendant or defendant’s counsel.  A misdemeanor can be taken to a jury trial and is punishable by no more than one year in county jail.  Hiring a skilled Placer County Defense Attorney to represent you for your misdemeanor offense will allow you to never make an appearance in court.  A felony charge on the other hand will require your attendance at every court appearance and is punishable by a state prison sentence.  Given the gravity of any of the above scenarios, whether it is a hefty fine or state prison, you should strongly consider consulting a Roseville Defense Lawyer.
